Apostilled translations

Certification and apostille are different formalities. A document may require one, both or neither, depending on the destination and receiving authority.

Who issues the apostille?

The Hague Apostille is issued by the competent public authority, not by the translator. In Portugal, official information and the apostille service are provided through the Portuguese Public Prosecution Service.

I can assess the documentary route and, where permitted, arrange the steps required to obtain the apostille.

Third-party costs: apostille fees are itemised separately and passed on in full. No mark-up or commission is added.

Within the European Union

For certain public documents circulating between EU Member States, Regulation (EU) 2016/1191 may remove the need for an apostille and may simplify translation requirements.
